GMC Adds New Trim to Hummer Lineup
What Comes With the 2023/2024 GMC Hummer’s New 3X Trim?
For years, the Hummer ruled the road. It was a status symbol to drive a Hummer, and it was one of the most iconic vehicles in modern times.
The recession in 2008/2009 hit the auto industry hard, and the Hummer was no exception. It seemed like many of our favorite vehicles, the Hummer included, may turn into nothing more than a memory. That was until GMC reinvented the Hummer for the 2022 model year as an electric SUV and electric pickup truck.
Despite the early success of this new version of the Hummer, GMC doesn’t seem content to rest on its laurels. For the new model year, they are introducing a new trim level known as the 3X. Now, we don’t want to be overly dramatic and call it another “reinvention” of the Hummer, but we are pretty excited about what it is going to provide new Hummer drivers.
2023/2024 Hummer 3X Features
First of all, you’ll notice that we are using two different model years to describe this new trim level. That’s because the 3X trim will be seen for the first time on the 2023 Hummer EV Pickup, while it will be added to the Hummer EV SUV model for the first time for the 2024 model year. To discuss features, let’s start with the pickup model.
Hummer 3X Pickup
As for raw power, nothing changes with the 3X model. Hummer EV Pickup drivers will still enjoy up to 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque, which are some unheard-of numbers for any class.
The 3X trim will add 22-inch wheels and 35-inch all-terrain tires. With these new wheels, the Hummer pickup will actually have an increased driving range of 355 miles, which is up from the 329 miles on other trim levels. Towing capability is also increased, rising from 7,500 pounds to 8,500 pounds. Keep in mind that these numbers will be impacted should you opt for the 3X model’s Extreme Off-Road package, but you will gain underbody cameras, extra skid plates, built-in assist steps and rocker protection.
Hummer 3X SUV
The SUV model offers also of the same features with its 3X trim level, but its impact to the raw numbers we mentioned above is different. For example, instead of a driving range of 298 miles, the 3X model for the Hummer SUV will be capable of 314 miles. The model will still retain the towing capacity of 7,500 pounds, as well as the powertrain output of 830 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque.
